Galway Region Irish Draught Mare and Foal Championship 2011
Sponsored by the Galway Branch of the IDHBA and Connolly's Red Mills
The Galway Region Irish Draught Mare and Foal Championship was held at the Mountbellew Show on Sunday last. It was sponsored by the Galway Branch of the Irish Draught Horse Breeders Association & Connolly Red Mills. There was a prize fund of €2,500.00. The winner was Pat Hoare, Ballinastack, Moylough. His winning Mare - Moylough Holly - is by Merry Mate & Killenana View. The foal is by Crosstown Dancer. Merry Mate is by Merry Gold by Lahinch. Crosstown Dancer is by Flagmount Diamond by King of Diamonds. Pat's luck was in on the day as her also took second place in the same Championship. His daughter Katie led that mare.

The Galway Branch Held a very successful Information Evening on Friday August 26th in O'Dea's Hotel in Loughrea.
The evening was very enlitening, covering new regulations regarding drawing of horse boxes, nutrition for the mare and foal and worming your horses. The evening was very well supported.
On the evening, they also held a draw, which was run to help fund the mare and foal championship at Mountbellew Show.
